Location: Emmaus, Pennsylvania

Scope of Work: A complete feasibility study, conducted by Muhlenberg/Greene Architects, Ltd., led to the design of this 18,500 sq. ft. single-story structure for school aged students K-5 with mild to moderate learning disabilities. In addition, the facility is a training center for student teachers, special education teachers, and school psychologists for observing teaching methods and techniques, pioneered by the school, for dealing with "LD" students. In support of this activity, the school includes 16 specialized classrooms, a library, special learning centers, and a multi-purpose/community recreation center.

Recently, Muhlenberg/Greene has designed an addition and renovations for The Hillside School. The 2,600 sq. ft. addition houses an art room and a computer room. The renovations consist of the conversion of the old art room into a guidance counseling center.

The Hillside School was the recipient of PP&L’s Presidential Award of Excellence for innovative energy-efficient design.
