The Beacon House

Location: Reading, Pennsylvania

Client: YMCA of Reading

Scope of Work: Developed as an outreach program, "Beacon House" is a collaborative project of the Reading YMCA and the Reading Junior League that provides transitional housing and essential supportive services including: education, child care, counseling treatment and employment development for young single parents with one or more children.

The facility consists of 13 apartment units and areas for group activities and staff office, was designed to fit comfortably into its northwest Reading residential neighborhood.

The project was funded through the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency with tax credit participation from Meridian Bank and a variety of local grants, including contribution of the site from the City of Reading.
